Max Cohen

Founder, Crosswind Leadership
ICF Certified International Coach

As a HOW Fellow, Max works to expand The HOW Institute’s impact and reach through writing, program design, facilitation, and partnership development. Previously, he served as the Director of the NXT-GEN Fellowship for Moral Leadership, where he designed, facilitated, and scaled the 15-week virtual leadership development experience. During his tenure the fellowship cultivated moral leadership mindsets and capabilities for some 650 mid-level leaders from 40 countries and 30 organizations.
Before working at The HOW Institute, Max served as an advisor to leaders aiming to further strengthen the culture and trust within their organizations and ecosystems, including organizations such as Ingersoll-Rand, the Church of England, the Council of Chief State School Officers, Promigas, Erste Bank, Boston Public Schools, and the Minnesota Department of Education.
Max is also an ICF certified international leadership coach and the founder of Crosswind Leadership. He specializes in working with individuals who want to strengthen their leadership to progress in their careers but are struggling to figure out how to do so in an authentic way. His coaching approach draws from his academic background in philosophy and ethics as well as his experiences as a high school history teacher.
Max has a passion for crafting learning experiences that are accessible, memorable, and relevant, grounded in the belief that the inspiration to grow is fueled by a sense of purpose, community, and joy. He enjoys cultivating a thoughtful space for leaders to explore the multiple identities, beliefs, and aspirations that make them unique as human beings.
He received a B.A with High Distinction in Philosophy from Duke University and has an Executive Certificate in Leadership Coaching from Georgetown University.
